Chef Saby

If it were not the knife, it would've been the brush; for what difference can a tool make when you are born an artist - no matter what you use, it is finally all about your self-expression.

Chef Sabyasachi Gorai, aka Chef Saby, among friends and patrons, has packed in a century of culinary expertise in his career spanning two decades. Starting at Hotel Guestline, Mumbai he became the Executive Chef of one of South East Asia's largest entertainment centers "The Bowling Company", at Mumbai, India, in 1999. Since 2006 he has served at Olive Qutab, Olive Beach, AI - The Japanese Restaurant, LAP -The Club and The Moving Kitchen by Olive, in New Delhi, India , becoming the Culinary Director of all these Units in 2010.

His latest Success Stories are the Launch of the Olive Culinary Academy, New Delhi, India and the phenomenal response to "Soda Bottle Opener Wala", the Bombay Irani Cafe at DLF Cyber Hub, Gurgaon, India.

He now owns and runs a Boutique Consultancy Company, out of New Delhi, India, called Fabrica by Chef Saby.

Hailing from Asansol in West Bengal, his food has melted many hearts and won accolades far and wide. What lies beneath his celebrity chefdom is a fire in the belly that gives him the drive to persist through his culinary saga: a passion that could only be likened to that of a master artist competing against himself; delivering every time. Quite like that artist, his passion revolves around doing something new, to bring the senses alive, to play with colours and texture and to celebrate life.

Just 40, Chef Saby's kitty overflows with awards won for the many restaurants he has worked for, as well as for himself.

Chef Saby's culinary art and craft are inspired by greats like Late Charlie Trotters, Tetsuya, Neil Perry and Pierre Gagnaire. The ingredients that excite him? "Anything and everything" he says. Cooking is not about secret ingredients and special recipes for him. It is all about a passion for food and serious cooking.

Does he have any favorite when it comes to whipping up dishes? "I cook anything as long as my guest loves it" That's quintessential Chef Saby for you: honest, dedicated and hardworking. The Chef who pours his heart into the cauldron and blends it in with the ingredients to present a work of art on your plate - over and over, every time.

With an enviable fan-list including Anil Ambani, Abhishek Bachchan and more, and critically acclaimed by the likes of Maryam Reshi, Rashmi Uday Singh, Sidhdharth Kak, Meher Moos and Sourish Bhattacharya, Chef Saby's culinary journey has now taken another creative route.
